Review by Tracey Jolene Whitney

Duran Duran’s members are   Simon Lebon ( Lead Singer  ) Nick Rhodes ( Keyboards /Founder ) John Taylor ( Bass Guitar / Founder )  Roger Taylor ( Drummer ) Paper God’s the 14th Studio Album from the British band. The album was produced by Nile Rodgers, Mark Ronson, Mr. Hudson and Josh Blair. Tracks on album also feature notable guest stars Kiesza, Janelle Monea , Lindsay Lohan and former Red Hot Chili Peppers John Frusicante.

Duran Duran have been influencers for decades, even before being a influencer was an occupation. They have always taken risks with their music and image. This band comes from humble beginnings in Birmingham United Kingdom. In the 1980’s MTV’s popularity started a second British invasion, Duran Duran were ready to storm our shores. Always being innovators of their craft, they were the first to feature fashion models in music videos. Beyond being trend setters, heart throbs and embodiment of the 80s glamorous indulgence.  Duran Duran’s music has always been actually quite excellent.
My initial impression of the album was optimistically cautious. As I listened to each track it all became abundantly clear that this album is fresh, innovative and enthusiastic. The sound of this album is truly divergent of the other albums. Duran Duran is not afraid of taking risks, that is a testament for their staying power in the music world.

There previous album “All You Need Is Now “  was pilgrimage back to their 80’s hit album  RIO , Mark Ronson encouraged them to sound like Duran Duran. In achieving this they went to great lengths by resurrecting some of their old instruments from the Duran Duran repository. This album was received well by the media, fans and critics. This album was being touted as the follow up to RIO. What allot of fans enjoyed about the collaboration with Mark Ronson was that he wasn't only a musical genius. He also is a fan, he even was to have rumored to sport a John Taylor inspired hair cut in his youth.

When early reports emerged of Mark Ronson's involvement in the 15th Studio Album , along with the rumors of Nile Rodgers triumphant return to the studio with Duran Duran. There was a feeling that Paper Gods was going to be something special.

Paper Gods is possibly one of the best Duran Duran albums to date. After an entire week of binge listening to this album. I set to the task of compiling the stand out tracks on the album.

Pressure Off " feat. Janelle Monea and Nile Rodgers is an upbeat tempo with a blend of sharp synth ,smooth funk guitar riffs blend into a dance groove that will have you on your feet. This song evokes the fun of going to a live show.

"Butterfly girl " is another stand out track on this album the lyrics are inspiring that you can rise above it all and be a Butterfly Girl . This is song one of the three tracks featuring  former Red Hot Chili Peppers John Frusicante .

" Last Night in the City " Feat. Kieza
Was pleasantly surprised by this track ,  Kiezas vocals are spot on complementing Simon Lebon's vocal range . This is fresh, upbeat song is surely going to get your body moving.

" The Universe Alone " Feat. John Frusicante
This is a hauntingly beautiful track with a gorgeous melody that just takes your to that place in your mind only Duran Duran can. With the intelligent insightful lyrics almost like visiting a surrealist painting with Simon Lebon.
