Saturday Sheet Masking

On Instagram you have been seeing people wearing sheet masks. This is now a two year old trend. I've been wanting to try , while in target the other night. I found a whole bunch of sheet masks . I will say that the prices vary. The mask I purchased was $1.80 USD . The weather extremely cold this evening in the northeastern United States. What a perfect night to mask.
Sheet mask

Reading directions the keep on the face for 10 minutes

The mask feels like the texture of a moist towelette, slight oily consistency. The smell is a robust coconut, the package says the smell of vacation I agree.

I applied the mask it's was cooling and soothing on my dry combination skin. The mask did slightly feel intense when I applied it . I put on some music for ten minutes, dreaming of beachs, warmth and summer vacations. When I removed the mask my skin felt tacky that soon disappeared. My skin felt glowing and soft . I'll say I'm a fan , also eager to try more.

Much Ado about a Man Bun ( a Lazy weekend past )

I lounged in my bed, contemplating getting up. Making my Saturday morning trip to the Canal District farmers market. Yet , sadly this wasn't going to happen. The enticement of a delicious chocolate chip cookie and iced almond milk latte from near by Birch tree Bakery. Nothing would budge me from my cocoon of blankets.

What does one do at that moment , you write a Facebook post telling everyone. In this way I'd find validation for this lazy state of mind. ( Don't laugh you do it to )
I found after my in depth social media research that this not wanting to do anything seemed to be a " thing " with everyone.

We have had a very humid past week here in the northeastern United States, I think everyone was just exhausted with being hot. My friend went for a Mani & Pedicure , this inspired me to do the same. Id get out of the house . I even picked up trash bags also, so that counts as an adult chore.

Id feel like I did something useful with myself. While my feet were soaking in the soapy water. I decided to read some beauty articles. I decided to read Man Repeller catch up on the young hip set . I'm no longer there demographic , it's really okay I still love them.

I've been experimenting with my hair all Summer. After the article " Women Take Back the Man Bun " Maybe it was the fumes in the nail salon . So I decided to embark on the man bun. The women in the salon shook there heads at me , when I talked about the man bun. Even though as they mention in the article "ARE WE TAKING BACK WHAT WE PERCEIVE TO BE RIGHTFULLY OURS OR JUST, YOU KNOW, WEARING OUR HAIR HALF UP?" (Via Man Repeller )

I think in my case they can have the men can have the "man bun " So at least to stepped out of my comfort zone. I also tried to dress French .

Well that looked wrong on so many levels. As I though I'm American with a love of British culture. That's kinda how I'd describe my style . So there you have it a post about nothing extrodinary. A small step out of the comfort zone.

Buns on the Run (Random Life Post )

My laptop has for lack of a better word died. So while I save my pennies my computer will be this iPod Touch. The laptop will let me in for brief moments so I jump on it . It's been a great month so far new temp assignment with a great team. Also I will for the first time become a god parent. I found a coffee house that isn't pretentious with good coffee.
I've been trying to be mindful of those around me and myself. Thanks to the gym and candy detox I'm getting back into my post smoking weight clothes. I've been listening to new genres of music. I've been wearing buns every freaking day . I need a haircut like yesterday so I'm having to rock the bun . Lets look at these buns .
Slicked back Bun

Pop knot
Wait hair didn't look like a shaggy dog so I let it go. Well I know Im at a crossroads in my life right now. Lots of change happening some painful. Though sometimes you got to just ride the tide. Ill be back with my dark lippy choices for fall . I said the post was random.

Fall Hair Trends 2014 ( Messy Hair )

While researching this article it made me laugh a bit. One of the styles is called " Gym Sleek" I obtained this reference from Harpers Bazaar. ( I will provide the link to the article which inspired this post )    which I think a lot of us rock naturally at the gym. I'm thinking skip the shower if you work out in the morning. Go to work and proclaim you are " Gym Sleek" make sure you use copious amounts of deodorant though. ( I am attempting to be humorous please do shower)

Years ago back when I started this blog we discussed , how the exclusive fashion world pulls from us the common folk. Mothers rocking messy buns at starbucks in NYC inspired one designer to shine up the look and use it on the runway. With that being said some looks being taken from the runway and rocked for fall go from Buns to Mod. I just watched " Valley of the Dolls " the other night which got me craving a mod bob. Looks like my fashion Spidey senses were right on cue. ( Spidey Sense is a reference to the fictional comic book character Spider Man. When Spider Man has heightened spider like senses)  I've provided youtube tutorial links on each title for your learning pleasure.

Off Duty Ballerina - This is a ballerina bun. You can wear it messy or sleek its really all up to you. I a linked a youtube to the title on the basic ballerina bun. You can just let your imagination go crazy.

Gym Sleek- Basically the casually done hair you wear to the gym. You can wear a large head band or free flowing. The way it works is mixed texture where your roots are wet and other half dry.

My Little Ponytail - Yes the pony tail is in for fall. Though you can have it free flowing or mixed media pony with strings and things woven in. Go through your kids craft set see if there is anything you can use.

Mod -     Well Mod is 60's era hair such as the bee hive , mod bob , pixie . Think of the women of the band the They B-52's they are mod. Also Twiggy , Edie Sedgwick , Julie Christie

My mom wanted me to pass on a cautionary tale about "Beehives" see said to make sure you wash your hair regularly. Being a nurse she said there was an increased cases of lice due to girls keeping there beehives in too long back then. She said some women were so infested they had to shave there heads. I mean too long as being in weeks long without washing. ( I am itchy now lets move on to wavy)

Wavy   Do the wave !  Yes wavy hair loose curls is in this fall. I have naturally curly hair so my hair won't let me do this. Though give it a whirl.

Twisters and Braids -  All summer we heard about fishtail braids. I remember them back in the late 80's pretty blonde girls name Ashley who played la Cross wore them. ( Little shout out to my friend Ashley who totally can rock fishtail braids )  Then twisting your hair is also on trend this fall. You can twist your hair in a updo or into a funky braid. In the 90's we used to twist our hair in these medusa like twists and anchor them with little tiny butterfly clips. I loved this trend it was so easy and fun.

This fall seems pretty easy to me .Do any of our older readers remember the Topsy Tail ?  They should bring it back with all this twisting going on.  I am going to get a mod bob and rock a pop knot bun all fall and winter. I was growing my hair out hoping to dye it blonde. Though I remembered what a pain it was to keep up blonde hair. So I'm just going to keep my hair chestnut brown. So what hair style trend will you rock this fall.

My Frizztastic Summer

I have read the emails asking me one simple question " What happened to your hair ? "  Yes in April I found the perfect color and cut for me. Seriously I never thought in a million years a hair style could do so much. Then here in the Northeastern United States wacky weather ensued as it has across the globe. The humidity no matter what product I used would kill my locks. I decided to get rid of the heat styling for the summer. Packing away my flat iron and blow dryer. I knew that this would be a very big change so why not have some fun with it.

I decided to rock my curly locks in a controlled messy boho look . I have embraced boho this summer just having fun. Though other times I like to get the preppy on so who knows . Labels are for clothes not Pop Trash Beauty I think anyway.

Having fun with Hats

I'm not a hat person at all . I love hats but some how they just don't jive on face. Ive found a couple that float my boat . I just recently purchased one in Village in NYC ( yes it makes me feel cool to say that . On the weekend doing my grocery shopping or hanging in the coffee shop. This hat really gets the job done keeping the frizz at bay and the sun off my face

The Bun

Yes its easy and looks good . After a shower I spray my hair with Aussie scrunch spray. Then comb it out in a sleek bun. It keeps me nice and cool. Is suitable for my office. Ive had a craving for pink hair feathers . Though we aren't allowed ( that was random but relevant to hair post )

Even though I'm going heat free and minimal product free this Summer . Here are some tips for you on how to have a less Frizztastic Summer .

1 . Wear a Hat
Helps protect your hair from the sun and humidity outside. Reducing the amount of frizz .

2. Conditioner Conditioner Conditioner
Did you get that you must use your conditioner especially this time of year .

3. Wash that Man right out of Your hair
Try to skip a washing or two . Dry shampoo is a modern marvel let me tell you. Nothing is better then letting your hairs natural oils get to work on the frizz.

4. Trim the Frizz
Get a trim split ends love to frizz out on you. While your there maybe a hot oil treatment wouldn't be a bad idea
5. H20
This is a no brainer keeping your body hydrated helps you all over your body. Even helps keep your hair healthy

Yes there are allot of products out there you can use. I'm looking into a 3 month straight treatment for the fall. For me personally I needed to give my hair the summer off . What is your favorite summer hair do?
