Le Dulse Vita : Seaweed Lettuce Tomato Sandwich

My Co-Blogger in crime Tam of Gluten? No. Free? Yes!

A bacon blog received with such love. Is a hard act to follow indeed. After a bable session with Tam , feeling guilty about the unhealthy aspects of bacon. I  thought why not share my cousin Tam's delicious alternative to the BLT.You'd be surprised how crispy and satisfying a (Dulse ) seaweed sandwich is.  The first time I tried it " I'm not eating no freaking seaweed" Before you wrinkle your nose take a look at living life living la dulse vita. Just think of the Street Cred you'll get at Whole Foods with its too cool for school workers. Even better the hit youll be in your work lunch room. Amidst all the left over spagetti , micro meals will be you the seaweed sandwhich person. Below is excerpts from Tam's Blog http://glutennofreeyes.blogspot.com/

I think even Michael Franti lives le Dulse Vita

Dulse Lettuce and Tomato Sandwich's

For those of you that have explored seaweeds and algae, you know it's yummy. I don't need to tell you how good it tastes or how good it makes you feel. It's filled with micronutrients, minerals, and trace minerals that can only be found in the sea, in these days of commercial agriculture and stripped earth. This is what SeaVeg say's and I agree with: Sea vegetables are rich in minerals and trace elements, including calcium, magnesium, iron, potassium, iodine, manganese, chromium and more, at levels much greater than those found in land vegetables. Sea veggies also provide vitamins, fiber, enzymes, and high quality protein. Marine phytochemicals found only in sea vegetables have been shown to absorb and eliminate radioactive elements and heavy metal contaminants from our bodies.

For those of you saying, Eww, I urge you to stop, and try this one first. In this application, the dulse takes the place of bacon, quite well, actually. You can choose to use mayo, extra avocado that's been mashed, or a mayo-esk product, like Follow Your Heart or Veganaise. Sorry there's no picture...this week! Expect more sea vegetables on the menu, as the Summer progresses. My inner New Englander will start searching for the foods of the ocean. Apparently, it does not know that we are in the desert. ---> Read More at Gluten? No. Free? Yes!
