Male Eating Disorders

Male anorexia is called sometimes " Manorexia " in the media, in our image obsessed culture of course men would not be immune to the societal pressures. Did you know over 10 million men will have an eating disorder at some point in there lives. Also youd be suprised to learn the mortaliy rate is acutually higher in men. So what are the types of eating disorders ?  What can you do to help a man or boy in your life who is stuggling with an eating disorder. Bulumia Nervosa, Anorexia Nervosa , Binge Eating are some of the most common eating disorders among men, According to
 NEDA ( National Eating Disorders Association.)  Also grouped in with those disorders such as  the Adonis Complex and Supplement Abuse .

"Males may account for approx 1-5% of patients with anorexia nervosa although prior to puberty the risk increases, and approx 50% of sufferers in children are boys. Males account for 5-10% of patients with Bulimia Nervosa. In actual numbers, bulimia is more common among males than anorexia and will occur in a greater ratio. In actual numbers this means that there are more men with bulimia than there are with anorexia."

Columbus Art Musem Exhibt " Spin Art " Featuring Record Album Cover Art

Columbus Art Musem is hosting an exhbit called " Spin Art " Which will run from Feburary 19, 2016 to August 21, 2016 . There will be 90 albums on display for this exhibit , aquired with the help of  local record store in Columbus Ohio called  Spoonful Records  and private collectors. 

"The exhibition showcases albums by musicians including Pink Floyd,Funkadelic, Run the Jewels, and Sonic Youth, to name just a few. And designs by Andy Warhol, Roger Dean, Winston Smith, Gerhard Richter, and many more artists." ( via Columbus Art Musem website ) 

Vinyl Records have increased in popularity over the past decade, I know my self there is nothing like cover art and liner notes that seem to complete the musical experience you go on with the artist. I've not had that connection with a jewel case. The Columbus Dispatch reported on this upcoming exibit saying 

"The upswing matches a national spike in vinyl sales: Nine million records were sold in the first half of 2015 (a full tally for the year is expected in mid-March), according to the Recording Industry Association of America. By comparison, 14 million were sold in all of 2014." ( Via the Columbus Dispatch )

Body Image :New Law In France Banning Super Skinny Models

I really agonized on how , I was going to approach this topic. This is not a skinny shaming post . I really had a hard time watching the disturbingly  skinny models during the most recent NYFW footage. There frames were utterly skeletal . It just seemed really bad this year. I know that they are working on new regulations to help models . I think they need to put a hustle in it . I wanted to say you need IV drips for all these men and women back stage. I know I'm fat and you could give me a laundry list of my health risks . I totally understand, though being too thin isn't safe either.

Over concern in regards to rising number  of women in France who are sick with Anorexia. The government went into action passing laws banning super skinny models from the runway. Also in the same token photos that have been edited must read " This photo has been edited "  This leaves a lot of people wondering if the United States will follow suit. I truly hope we do follow Frances lead the that will benefit health and wellbeing of all women and men who walk the runways, those that they influence. When little 8 year old girls are talking about diets. Just the insanity with the obsession with beauty in general world wide has gotten out of hand. I truly believe regulations like what was recently passed in France could be the change we need to get the ball rolling. I hope one day women and men could just be happy and love themselves. Till then body image warriors we keep raising our voices for change. 

What Does the Heart Want ?

I had to write this on my phone so it's not perfect. Though I promised I'd post . 

I really don’t want to do the same post about being single and fabulous again.  You ever have the same question posed to you , repeatedly ?  I think you know what you want till someone straight up asks you.

So I guess this year instead of professing my love to a glass of wine , Ill try to find out what I want !

What do I want in a partner ?

·        Kindness and empathy 

·        Accepting my cat he is my best friend over ten years not negotiable

S Someone who won't just use me for my creativity and throw me away. I'd want someone whom we could combine our skill sets and grow together.

·        I want to be valued enough that Birthdays and Valentines Days matter. I mean a card even . ( yeah I've been forgotten can you tell ) 

·       Im not desperate nor a doormat beacause Im a chubby women . My value as a human is not predicated to the size of my dress. Honestly if you don't take me as I am now , then even at a smaller size we'd probably not be cool. 

I II Someone who is proud to be together not casting me aside like a piece of rubbish Wont throw me to the wolves and run away only emerging when the dust has settled 

     I just want a kind loving human to who wants to share a life together . Who is willing to work hard together and communicate . Also a love of eclectic genres of music film and art is helpful
