I Forgot it was New York Fashion Week

Street Style Fall 2013: New York Fashion Week

I thought Id skip the Valentines Day post this year if that is okay with you. I as a pop culture beauty blogger missed New York Fashion Week. Last year I got my twitter coverage down pat with the schedule on my fridge good list on my twitter page of all the accounts. I also made good use of tumblr. In all honesty it took me a couple years to figure out how to cover fashion weeks without going. This year I've been emerged in the world of Radio and Music Trades. The closest I've come to fashion is Macklemore and Ryan Lewis song Thrift . Instead of Carl Lagerfeld I know allot about David Grohl. Julian Lennon has a US release happening this year. Though ask me what Betsy Johnson has been up too ? ( Let me tell you this girl knew ) The Grammy dress code I did know by heart I will give myself that . If you have been a fan of blog I always do something. I haven't purchase a Vogue in months. I will confess I have no freaking clue what is going on in the fashion world right now. I always read up on street style then fuse it with whats current. I have always felt the street style of today will trickle down to the runway in a few years. I always do a few weeks of research before fashion weeks to see what's going on. I haven't done a darn thing . I realized that my life has changed that is not a bad thing at all. I love all the new things I'm learning everyday. Though my blog has to have one Fashion Week post .  So I pulled a couple of things I found interesting. I decided to just comment on them with the first things that pop into my head . This may be dangerous though lets see where it takes us. I will say upon first glance of the street style shots outside of the venues. Enough with the fur already it makes my stomach turn. Wish they would just turn onto something else.

Calvin Klein Fall 2013
Very 1950's sci fi if you ask me . Would be something you would have seen in an episode of
the twilight zone " Women of the Future"  I really do like the use of the soft and hard elements

Oscar de le Renta Fall 2013
I really like this style seeing a trend they are borrowing from the mod  era it seems . I love the pop of color with the print I would wear this .

Rag & Bone Fall 2013
This feels very late 80's early 90's pattern wise . Though I will say looking at Rhodarte an Vera Wang's Fall collections also the pant hems seem to be capri . I like it though very clean lines . I couldn't wear this Im curvy would look horrible
Carolina Herrera Fall 2013
I am thinking Ingrid Bergman in Casablanca for some reason. I love the cut of this dress . The rouching on the tummy area is so kind. I learned this while shopping for dresses a few years back . It seems in fall we have some very era inspired looks . This is good for me means I can go to the thrift shop and emulate them. I primarlyy shop thrift

Blank Canvas

When a canvas is blank you can think of this things  it will become . You sketch plan even dream until you make it happen. Then like Pollock you get insane with color where did the concept go.  No pencil lines you are almost euphoric just splashing the paint on the canvas. When you emerge from this zone you have been in .You look upon the canvas is seems that you created something that you have no idea where it came from. It looks alien too you in some way you cant even comprehend it . You sketched for days you planned you wasted supplies.  Though now in a way you own its part of you this messy canvas of color blobs of pant with no direction , rhyme or reason. In that moment you sob in angry frustration that you strayed. You look upon the canvas why didn't follow the plan while you sit there upset sobbing over this painting you didn't plan. You dismiss the beauty that is screaming at you from the canvas. The beauty is there because it came from your soul. You put it away so you aren't reminded of it though its still there . The you decide one day to look at it in the light just one more time. In the mess you saw beauty in a moment you just let go and released your self . This time you cried tears of joy for you knew that it was the most real moment in your life.

Pop Art Icon Marta Minujin Gets Married to Art

Here at Pop Trash Beauty we adore a beautiful love Story.  A Pop Art Icon Marta Minujn celebrated her 70th birthday by getting married to art.  I read this in the Huffington post had to share this with you.  She wore a white gown also celebrated with a big pink wedding cake.  I've been trying to find unconventional love stories for  Valentines Day . The Huffington Post reported

" The "Andy Warhol" of Buenos Aires donned a white dress, tossed a bouquet, and toasted above a giant pink cake at theMALBA museum, joining in matrimony with the profession that made her famous, for all 300 of her wedding guests to see.
Minujin, famous for recreating the Buenos Aires obelisk in fruit cake, planned the birthday/wedding to raise money for the museum's educational programs, so there's no need to compare her stunt to the Art Guys who are now happily married to a plant." ( via the Huffington Post )
Here is some of Minujins brilliant work

Weddings for fundraisers seem to be a new trend. Dog nuptials are on the rise in the name of charity. One made headlines as the most expensive Canine wedding in history. Everything was donated by participating vendors. The wedding actually made the Guinness book of World Records . Guest bought tickets to the event and all the proceeds went to the Humane Society of New York.  I've posted the video below for your enjoyment.

Music :Cause & Effect ( 90's Flashback)

I went to a concert in 1992 while spending the summer in Seattle with my cousins. KUBE 93 Summer Jam. There was a whole host of artists of the time Stacey Q , Gerardo  yet there was one band that I had never heard of Cause &Effect. They had this Depech Mode type of feel to them. Yet there sound was defiantly there own . My cousin and I rushed out to buy there cassette after the show. They hadn't really hit in the Eastern United States just yet. I think I'm going through a sort of 90's resurgence of my own. This happens to me once a year it seems. I wan't break out the rum raisin lipstick and slather myself with Victoria's Secret Pear Glace lotion. Live on Captian Crunch and yogurt again. Rock our a flannel with a lace camisole but it soon passes. Now back to Cause & Effect this is a band that you miss terribly or you may have missed all entirely.

Cause & Effect were formed in Sacramento, California, consisting of founding members vocalist/guitarist Rob Rowe and keyboardist Sean Rowley. They originally released their debut in 1990 as a self-titled album on minor label Exile Records. C&E was subsequently picked up by BMGMusic subsidiary, Zoo Entertainment, and a reworked version of their album was released in 1991 as Another Minute. " ( Via Wiki Pedi )

Here are two of my favorite tracks off of Another Minute

The bands growth was cut short by the Death of Sean Rowley's sudden death in 1992. The band took some time after Rowleys death to reform and move foward.

" A period of contemplation and an invitation to the sold-out KROQ Acoustic Christmas Show followed, with the inclusion of the Rowe-penned acoustic song "Hollow" on a compilation by their record company, Zoo Entertainment. The song was dedicated to Rowley. "Afterwards, Rowe decided to continue the band's efforts with keyboardist Keith Milo and drummer Richard Shepherd. In 1994, the re-formed band released their second album, Trip, which was received with critical acclaim. The album spawned the single "It's Over Now", a number 7 hit on the Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart and the band's fourth single to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 reaching number 67 in August 1994.Singles were also released for the songs "Alone" and "Inside Out", but both failed to make a dent in the charts."

So Where are they Now ?
Rob Row and Keith Milo carry on Cause & Effect still together with an album released in 2011

"An electronic fusion of cleverly crafted pop arrangements against a backdrop of layered synth textures and acoustic rhythmic flourishes. Intelligent, thought provoking lyrics and pleading melodies embedded in lush sonic soundscapes that are sure to captivate the senses of even the most discriminating listener. Cause and Effect’s Rob Rowe and Keith Milo return with their fifth studio album, “ARTIFICIAL CONSTRUCT.”  ( Via http://www.causeandeffect.com )

Boyz II Men Invited to Russia to Inspire Babymaking

Photo via Wikipedia

I was looking for something romantic post for the days leading to Valentines Day. A music group being called upon to boost a countries birthrate by there president. I couldn't resist sharing the story with you .

"NME reported The idea behind hiring the '90s R&B group appears to be that their romantic and lust-filled slow jams will inspire the people of Russia to depart the concert and embark on activities that should see the number of pregnant women in Moscow increase overnight. Putin has repeatedly spoken about his desire to see the population of Russia increase, stating that three children per household is the figure to aim for."

I personally think this track " I'll Make Love to You "  this will be the baby maker song.

I thought about it what an honor for Boyz II Men they will be the musical aphrodisiac  that will boost the numbers of a entire country. So when these children are born November -ish ,  will they be named after the famed groups members.   I will agree there music is sexy and soulful. So when you snuggle up to your Valentine put some Boyz II Men in the rotation .  I meet Boyz II Men in 1992 in a hotel lobby with my friends. I will be honest I was a spaztic teenager for lack of a better word made an idiot out of myself but they were very kind. I got grounded for being out past curfew but it was worth it. So what band would you suggest for procreation ?
