I guess if you contemplate anything having no money worries would be one of them. I honestly would love to win the mega millions.Sometimes I feel like I'm adult grounded after I pay my bills. Though I wonder if it would buy me happiness? Would I for a lack of a better word would I "piss " through it?Would I be anymore happy than I am now? Could I cure my afluenza. Since I'm not a lotto winner, I'll console myself with a latte from the local coffee house. Then come home do my domestic diva duties. I over heard allot of people talking about what they'd do if they won today? They talked about how they'd fly away. One of the young guys that works at my work week lunch place. Said he'd be setting sail on a yacht if he won.



The lottery is a part of our pop culture. We are obsessed with the rich with the advent of reality shows when in the past we'd get a peak into the gated private lives of the rich. There was always a mutual respect noone spoke of money. Even when I was a kid my mom would whisper " they have money" . Like it was a secret or something. In the 80's shows like Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. Gave us all a look into the life of the uber rich. Today we have a whole gamete of reality shows that showcase the rich. I think with the downward economic status of the world today. Maybe its a source of escapism. Well we do love the rich and fab. I think the historic lottery game that just took place proves it. So when you win the Lotto Pop Trash Beauty is here to keep you grounded so you don't become a dreaded SNOB! ( any excuse really to post these gems) I was like Sarah in a geeky way . I wanted to stay home on Friday night to watch 20/20 in my fuzzy jammies. Paint my nails and do a facial mask ice cream may have been involved.G-Whiz I was a drip not very swell.

Makeup Karma

This was a good hair karma day

Well after having a Twillight Zone type dream last night. I woke up not knowing that today I'd experience some bad makeup / hair karma. Commonly know as the dreaded bad hair/ makeup day. Even with Mcgyver type skills it can't be avoided.  I put on the coffee and feed the starving kitty ( we all know he isnt starving, He acts like it though)

 I took my shower the night before laying down the ground work I flat ironed my hair. My plan was to clean up any loose ends and be done. This was going according to plan. I primed my face went to make my waffles . After eating my breakfast I returned dressed and ready to get my makeup on. I applied the shadow then the liquid liner. My kohl liner on the lower lash line. The pencil was low I applied it briskly. My eyes stared to burn so I flushed them out. Eye makeup streamed down my face looking like a black streaky mess.

Id say it felt like this 

With puffy eyes I decided to clean up my face and hit my eyes with eyeliner later on . I got to work my eyeliner pens refill was gone. I kept clicking it hoping some product would emerge. I noticed that my hair was a puff ball from the damp morning. At that moment I decided to just laugh and get over myself. Anything I could have done to fix it was in vain. I looked on the bright side of things. You ever have bad hair/makeup karma ?

My Gram  turned 90 today made me feel nostalgic. I was looking through some vintage makeup guides. In the 1940's my Gram Theresa was a newlywed starting a family. She told me of all the crazy things they used to do in the name of beauty. She told me they were more concerned with putting food on the table in those days. Though even to this day she has to get her hair done regularly. So in my search for some vintage makeup how to guides. I came across this youtube channel and blog called Glamour Daze. My mom was laughing at these she thinks my facination with educational films is odd. ( Allot of you know of my love , of the Coronet Educational Films )  There were a collection of videos. That I enjoyed the most narrated by Miss Ratherly Stern ( I don't know if that is fictional name) 


I wanted to share these gems with all of you . When I watched them it may seem a but old fashioned but the principles are good. Now just think we have millions of people telling us how to look. With the advent of new media . I think I would have been the women in the " what not to do examples" 












Now back to our time.

Pop Trash Talk : Being Normal

Today I got some really good news. For four months I've been struggling with diverticulitis. I have had 3 courses of anti botics one hospital stay. Today I got a colonoscopy that gave me good news . The infection was gone. I have not been able to go to bed without worrying if Id wake up for four months. Tonight I will sleep like a baby. Knowing at I am on my way to good health. I did this post below while I was in the hospital in December. Even though my diet is restricted energy level is not 100% . I'm on my way to normal. Which is weird because I never wanted to be normal. Thanks for all the love and concern. Now we need to get some madcap blogging on ! Love you all . So if you ever have to stay over in the hospital. Ive reviewed the products for you. I hope none of you ever have to be there. The pics below are from December.

One of my biggest blogging dreams came true. Duran Duran tweeting and Facebook posting our blog post on concert fashion fun. I want to thank them once again for this. Well then what do I could I possibly do to eclipse this. Nothing then I thought finally do a youtube makeup video. I've attempted this before yet I hated watching myself. I have received so many wonderful emails telling me this blog inspires you to step out of your comfort zone. So I decided that I needed too.  Walk the walk and talk the talk . So before I premiere it in the next post this week . Let me show you the behind the scenes look at my bloppers . I am taking from the two first videos I " TRIED " to do after reviewing them . I realized I talk way too much. I am doing a tutorial no coming over your house for a cup of coffee and gab session. My eyes are uneven due to nerves so today I took a deep breath did much better. I will post it later this week. Well if you need a good laugh go ahead. If at first you dont succeed try try again ..

 I've read all your emails saying that  you're craving a quirky Duranesque post. Well I think you'll find it to be quirky indeed. I am working on two blog posts right now that are not exactly ready for your consumption. Id like to wish the guyliner contingent ( Duran Duran)  a wonderful second leg of the All You Need Is Now Tour. I thought I'd round up a couple tidbits of fashion fun for you. I've struggled with concert fashion a tad in the past as you all know.

 I learned at my last show just to have fun. I'm not wearing 5inch heels this women likes to dance. My dance moves cant be done in heels ( I really am happy its very dark at the venues) Seriously I found myself hobbling around a casino in vain. Smiling and getting your groove on is the most stylish. One thing I do enjoy seeing are the fans very own DIY fashion creations such as the ones pictured above. Even the band themselves pull out some fashion surprises for us. Here is my revised version of concert going onsom. Everyone have fun going to your respective concerts on this leg of the tour. Adventures in Home Hair Color

Well I just got laid off from my job. I knew that Id have to make some cuts. One of them would have to be foils. I hadn't used home hair color in the longest time. I'd become addicted to salon services to be honest. That feeling of walking out of the salon, feeling new and shiny. Id  liken it to being in a 1980's hair commercial. With job interviews and meetings with those in the beauty biz. I had to do something about my hair. There was a new trend called the ombre where your roots were dark the ends light. I could get away with it for a bit. Though as you'll see below I was pushing it. So I bought some hair color at CVS today decided to do it myself. In the past would have wholes and patches in my dye jobs. A friend of mine just told me how she hasn't gone to the hair stylist in months. She learned how to cut her hair from a youtube video. I've used youtubes in the past as learning tools . So I watched about ten of them from them. I learned one important tip, that its all about how you section your hair. I didnt use the product she used, yet thought the process was very good







 This video offered what I was looking for sectioning of the hair. I didnt have a hair brush like she did , yet I had a toothbrush . This was a bit cumbersom to say the least. I did take the advice also the wise Madeleine Gallay check her blog with a new name   Madeleine Gallay -A Real Life Fashion Fairy Tale  thanks to her not too much dripping and staining at all. So here are the pics I managed to get .

I tweeted as I colored my hair . It was a slow Saturday night here at the Pop Trash Beauty house. Yeah having Tapas with my friends isn't in the budget either. So my question is this . Is there any beauty service you do yourself to save money ? I saved about 85.00 dollars tonight.

Modern Topsy Tail

I've been in my secret makeup laboratory cooking up some looks ( aka my bathroom)  I was surfing the net reading about Paris fashion week. I found this video on " The Modern Topsy Tail"  I wore a topsy tail in the 1990's . Yes for those wee beauties who were just born then . I will provide a youtube video for you my little pups. The topsy tail was one of those inventions that you wish you'd thought of look below as we gear up in our beauty time machines to look at the original Topsy Tail .

So now back to 2012 . Where we will learn that you don't need $12.95 to create a high fashion look in minutes. I did try this look I have to report that I love it .

She is right about the dry shampoo. I have medium length curly hair it looked pretty funky yet put together
