My Top 5 Heirloom Beauty Products

These products have been on the market for over 20 years. They have endured even in today's current market. There price points have only budged with inflation. Most likley you have owned one of these products in your lifetime. I thought we'd give them a shout out for being oldie but goodies. I have become obsessed with Pinterest and Polyvore so I did this little layout of my five favorites. I dont make any money from these products . My favorite by far is St Ive's Apricot Scrub . So what is your favorite classic beauty staple?

The Art of Nutella

Holga Pop Art Nutella by ~kelly-leigh on deviantART

I didn't know happiness could come in a jar. It does in a chocolate hazelnut spread called Nutella. How many of us who partake in lent will have this on our list? Duran Duran fans have known about this treat for a long time. ( I'm not sure which one of them likes Nutella , John Taylor maybe ? )  So if you're off the Nutella for a couple months here is some ideas on how to use it without eating. I am working on my Ana Matronic inspired makeup look at present. Thought a sweet Quirky little post that tastes great on whole wheat toast was in order.

You can use it as performance art , the artist that influenced her is Bruce Nauman .

How about some Nutella nails perhaps ?

We must end with a Duran Duran song that is as sweet as Nutella .

The 80's Yuppie Zone ( co blog )

Pop Trash Yuppie
Want this look go to the post

I was very happy to be asked to contribute to a blog post on Lauren Castles My Obsessive Fascination . This is a post about the 1980's yuppie women. So lets take a trip into the yuppie zone shall we ?  Click on the link to go over to the post you will love it darlings. Its better than a mud pit fight between Alexis and Krystle on Dynasty.

"You're traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of Porsches and country clubs. Big yachts and equally big shoulder pads. High voltage lips with an attitude to match. A journey into a wondrous but bizarre land whose boundaries are that of Jaguars, humongous cell phones, and enough hair gel to drown a rhino . That's the signpost up ahead - your next stop, the Yuppie Zone". Go to post

For my younger readers this is the mud pit fight  I referenced above

Kiss my Cupids Bow ( Happy Valentines Day )

Kiss My Cupids Bow

The cupid bow was all the rage in the 1920's . Film star Clara Bow inspired the lip. It seemed like a fitting lip in the spirit of Valentines Day. Many famous femme fatales worn the cupid bow . Freshly bobbed hair , thin long brows cupid bow on your pout. Some famous 1920's dames wearing the bow. Dadaism muse Kiki of Montparnasse ( Man Ray's lover )   to Americas sweetheart of that era Mary Pickford. Even Betty Boop still rocks out the cupids bow. Let's look at it in action. This is footage from Man Rays films of  KiKi  really ahead of his time in so many ways.

On a quite night I shut off the televsion , pour a glass of wine listen to Edith Pilaf . Usually when I am working on a painting I like to have Edith with me. I mention this for it seems like a great gift for your valentine. To me love songs sound more soulful in french at times.

Have a wonderful Valentines Day my loves , thanks for all the support and love

When the Velvet Underground wrote Femme Fatale it was inspired by Edie Sedgwick one of Andy Warhol s most iconic muses. Duran Duran did a cover of this song which has always been a favorite of mine. The models in this video are wearing fangs not cupid bow lips. Though fangs could be considered valentine themed ?
