Well right now I write to you from Seattle WA . Today was one of those flying experiences that was pretty right on. Seems like a long 5 hour journey to get here wouldnt end . There is always a hiccup when you travel but then things always work out in the end. I watched the Jet Blue television stations . I have to say I really liked it. I was watching VHI classic Duran Duran's Reflex came on can you guys just see my grin . Of course my camera was in the overhead compartment . I wanted to tweet a pic of me watching The Reflex at 10,000 feet . Though I did get this 80's video gem on the camera. I think this is end of the flight bored where your thinking " I just want to be there already" .
I'm coming over for my cousins west coast memorial services. Its weird being here without her. As I looked out over MT Rainer tonight the sunset casting this warm glow of pinks , orange and yellow over its snow capped peak. Brought a peace over me just to set eyes on its beauty. Seattle is one of those places that will be forever magic to me. Even as I have become more and more familiar with it not lost its shine. I get excited just to be here with the creativity of this city. All the wonderful times we shared here add to the warmth . If not possible I am more in love with this city than ever. It bring such healing to me on so many levels. I might add the best cup of coffee in the country resides here . I have gone off the list Nora and I cooked up for this challenge. ( we will blame it on Jet Lag )

Today was a special day we celebrated the life of my cousin Stephanie Anne Fahlbeck a beautiful. The East Coast Fahlbecks ( We are Swedish/ Canuck ) Sent our messages to Stephanie lots love . Now Im headed to Seattle this week to attend her services.
Ive noticed allot of bloggers doing this 30 day blog challenge. I think that Pop Trash Beauty needs a little spicing up . So I think a blog challenge may just be something to help us get back on track. I wanted to share a couple of songs that have been in have been in heavy rotation on my ipod latley. There old songs that seem new again . I dont really know why but I love it !
My Family and I suffered a loss that has my heart in pieces. The world took from us my uncle and 4 months later his daughter 35 and about to walk down the isle . Sunday I had my last fitting for her wedding. Monday she passed away her name is Stephanie . She was my cousin more my sister even 5000 miles between us couldn't break the bond. She and I fought like sisters and loved like sisters. I could shoot her a look across the room and she would just laugh. We laughed , cried , danced like fools. We shared all our hopes and dreams. She was not only my cousin but my forever friend. Steph turned me on to Depeche Mode, Chuck Taylor's , Latte . She volunteered sending packages to the troops. Helping youth AIDS and HIV awareness . Was seriously one of those people who had this infectious laugh. She adopted Boston Sports teams even living far away. I nicknamed her Little Southie for her Irish heritage. We had allot of shanagins in our youth I'm glad we did.
She lived just outside of Seattle. I cant get my mind around it but I know shed call me a geek for writing this in PTB . Which she liked this blog even though she thought I may have finally lost it. My heart aches and my head is numb. So if you have a " Stephanie " in your life . Call her , hug her tight, tell her what she means to you. Never let time elapse without her in your life.If you find the way to the Ordinary World let me know for it seems I have lost my way too it . I am in need of it for it . My mind dosent know how this happens ?
Dance Like No one is Watching Author: unknown We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another. Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and we'll be more content when they are.
After that, we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage. We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, are able to go on a nice vacation,or when we retire.
The truth is, there's no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when? Your life will always be filled with challenges. It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway. Happiness is the way. So, treasure every moment that you have and treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time with...and remember that time waits for no one.

Japanese Animation dates back to circa 1917. Over the years many forms of Japanese animation followed it wasn't until the 1960's that we started to see the Anime we know today take shape. The " God Father of Anime/Manga " Was a Japanese Cartoonist named Osamu Tezuka.
In writing this post I got a view and insight into the world of Anime. Its interesting to find out that allot of the early anime was based on Disney characters. Anime has a cult following is also a big part of Japanese pop culture. I would say America has also taken to Anime. Conventions all over the world bring fans together. What I get from doing this post in an effort to understand Anime better. There seems to be something for everyone. How you fit into Anime culture is all up to you. Do you consider Anime Art or Cartoon ?
I have read the emails asking me one simple question " What happened to your hair ? " Yes in April I found the perfect color and cut for me. Seriously I never thought in a million years a hair style could do so much. Then here in the Northeastern United States wacky weather ensued as it has across the globe. The humidity no matter what product I used would kill my locks. I decided to get rid of the heat styling for the summer. Packing away my flat iron and blow dryer. I knew that this would be a very big change so why not have some fun with it.
I decided to rock my curly locks in a controlled messy boho look . I have embraced boho this summer just having fun. Though other times I like to get the preppy on so who knows . Labels are for clothes not Pop Trash Beauty I think anyway.
Having fun with Hats
I'm not a hat person at all . I love hats but some how they just don't jive on face. Ive found a couple that float my boat . I just recently purchased one in Village in NYC ( yes it makes me feel cool to say that . On the weekend doing my grocery shopping or hanging in the coffee shop. This hat really gets the job done keeping the frizz at bay and the sun off my face
The Bun
Yes its easy and looks good . After a shower I spray my hair with Aussie scrunch spray. Then comb it out in a sleek bun. It keeps me nice and cool. Is suitable for my office. Ive had a craving for pink hair feathers . Though we aren't allowed ( that was random but relevant to hair post )
Even though I'm going heat free and minimal product free this Summer . Here are some tips for you on how to have a less Frizztastic Summer .
1 . Wear a Hat
Helps protect your hair from the sun and humidity outside. Reducing the amount of frizz .
2. Conditioner Conditioner Conditioner
Did you get that you must use your conditioner especially this time of year .
3. Wash that Man right out of Your hair
Try to skip a washing or two . Dry shampoo is a modern marvel let me tell you. Nothing is better then letting your hairs natural oils get to work on the frizz.
4. Trim the Frizz
Get a trim split ends love to frizz out on you. While your there maybe a hot oil treatment wouldn't be a bad idea
5. H20
This is a no brainer keeping your body hydrated helps you all over your body. Even helps keep your hair healthy
Yes there are allot of products out there you can use. I'm looking into a 3 month straight treatment for the fall. For me personally I needed to give my hair the summer off . What is your favorite summer hair do?
I often write about reoccurring themes in my life. This week its bubble gum brought on my a recent purchase of Revlon's scented nail polish. I had to try it after Nora from Botoxey tweeted about the peach version she bought . I mean seems like fruity nail polish has Pop Trash Beauty written all over it . So I decided to do a whole post featuring Bubble Gum.
Do you know why gum is pink? The color of the first successful bubble gum was pink because it was the only color the inventor had left. The color "Stuck" and today bubble gum is still mostly pink.
Some cool facts about gum from the past. Ancient Greeks chewed a gum like substance called mastic. Women especially liked gum because it cleaned their teeth and it exercised their jaw muscles.
Bubble Gum Pop
Genre of pop music popular in the sixties and seventies . Most of these groups were one hit wonders were manufactured in the studio. The Monkees , Brady Bunch , The Royal Guards man , Ohio Express , The Lemon Pipers , The Cuff Links . This genre died down in the later 70's due to the emergence of Disco and Punk Rock moving in to the culture. Modern day examples of bubblegum pop are Katy Perry, NSYNC , New Kids on the Block, Jonas Brothers, Selena Gomez, BrittanySpears ( when she first started )

Revlons Scented Nail Polish ( Bubblegum 409 )
Thanks to Nora at Botoxey I caught a craving for scented nail polish. I first purchased the Raspberry Rapture which was fruity and Fun. Then went back for Bubblegum Pink . These polishes are fun fast drying and have a pleasant smell even after drying. It reminded me of the my dew kisses bubble gum scented lip roll on from the late 80's . Its worth a try funky, Fun & Fruity . ( I call this Duranish pink ) .

Signature Lippy
This is my year round lippy that I love to pieces. Whats weird about it I purchased it just for the name Estee Lauder's Velvet Orchid being the Warhol lover I am. This lippy is one that you can wear alone and people will say " Your eyeshadow is so beautiful" the thing is you arent wearing any. This color crabs all the colors of your skin tone an makes them pop. I'm not saying everyone will garner theses results. I think we all have that color that no matter what works.
This quad is super fun , highly pigmented. A little goes a long way . I can wear a boho look or smoke it out . I'm not usually a green shadow girl . I'm hooked on this quad has been my go to shadow for quite while now. A late night impulsive sephora purchase has become a staple in my makeup bag .
Ponds Cold Cream
I've been using it since I was five years old. Dance recitals with fire engine red lipstick and blue eyeshadow .My mom with a mound of tissues wiping away the makeup like magic with ponds cold cream. I still use it especially when glitter makeup creations happen .
Stilla Smudge Pot
When gel liner burst on the scene I quickly tossed away my messy liquid liner . Stilla Smudge pots are my favorite . They glide on like a dream . Lets say are forgiving when you go off track. They are a little pricey for me . So in between pots I use Wet n wild gel liner
Miracle by Lancome
I seem to find everything by chance . I was in the department store and loved the display. When I sprayed it on me I smelled it and said its my scent . Ive been wearing it for six years . Though I think Boy George should have been the pitch man for Lancome . Singing his song and walking down a bright pink path spray all these models with Miracle . Waking them up from some kinda avante guard nightmare . Singing his song Its a Miracle . Yeah I thought of this in an Airport . Listen to the song umm you see it don't you ?
Prime Time Eyes
Before they came out with " eye shadow primer " Yes there was this time before eyeshadow primer .
I used to just take a dab of concealer or imagine this nothing . Then I started using MAC's Paint Pots they truly work at holding the shadow on there. I would recommend using a little bit of moisturizer with it . It makes my eyes look creasy with some shadows. It does its job time and time again
Aquaphor
I love Aquaphor it is versatile just amazing to you dermis. I use it on my feet in winter . Mix it with brown sugar for a lip exfoliate . I recommend you get yourself some its one of those products that its uses are up to you.
Crush with Eyeliner Brush
Debra Macki ( my makeup teacher ) has a eyeliner brush that is a staple in my makeup bag. This brush gives you control. You can use it with gel eyeliner. Even your favorite eyeshadow to make into an eyeliner. I also find it handy drawing designs on my face. Ive tried others I have to say this brush is amazing .
Dior Show Water Proof Mascara
This is a tad pricey for mascara I will admit . I use Lash Blast usually . If you do Bridal makeup this is a staple indeed. Even the Humid weather cant defeat this Mascara . For me its a splurge worth every penny .
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils
NYX should be commended on a brilliant marketing campaign. Giving youtube makeup gurus there product. Really spread there name like wild fire. That's how I found out about them. The great thing is they really work and I love them. My first time using one was on a makeup look for the Psychedelic Furs " Love My Way " Inspired look.
I also think while your getting your makeup on you need music. I think that you need to listen to a diva of course .
Well in keeping with the Real Beauty Movement. My 36th birthday brought allot of self reflection into my life. It also brought me Adult Acne. Hence the title don't pop your zits. Adult acne is less forgiving in the arena of scaring. We arent kids anymore and our skin dont heal as quick as a teens. I remember working on counter and having women over the age of 35 asking me for advice on acne. They would be almost feeling guilty for dipping into there kids zit creams and face washes. Id tell them to go see there dermatologist. Make sure that they remembered to moisturize not dry out there skin too much. When I was a younger Pop Trash Beauty. I was that girl everyone hated for I never got plagued with teenage acne. So here is a brief overview of adult acne. I tried to keep it brief seeing that I get a little wordy when it comes to skincare.

Adult acne is caused by sebum, an oily substance produced by the skin’s sebaceous glands. Sebum clogs pores, which attract bacteria and become inflamed. Here we always include our men friends in everything. They too suffer from adult acne as well . So boys we will help you too . Men and women's skin is different from each other . Yet allot of the treatments are the same . As always go to your dermatologist they can set you on a good treatment plan. I am washing with a oil free acne wash . Since this lightly exfoliates everyday, Ive cut my routine down to 2x a week with a sensitive skin exfoliate. Moisturizer Oil free its so very important to moisturize your skin. Your sebaceous glands are in overdrive. Your initial reaction is too dry out your skin. Don't dry out your skin its going to make your sebaceous glands work overtime to produce oil. Keeping your skin moisturized is going to help maintain the balance. Here are some tips from WebMd

Believe it or not, there’s a trick to skillful face washing. To start, try to keep your face clean during the day. Then wash your face twice daily with the cleanser (if your skin is dry, try using water the second time). Use only warm water (hot water is drying).
