Q: What are trend spotters ?

A: Trend spotters are the people. that comb the streets of big cities looking for the next trend. Usually the locations would be Tokyo , New York City , London , Los Angeles to name a few. What people are wearing in these cities determines the trend you'll be buying. For instance the messy bun craze a couple years ago. Was inspired by moms throwing there hair up in a messy bun to get the kids off to school. Or this could be an urban fashion myth . It gives you a good idea of what it entails. Take a look at this website its an excellent resource.  Face Hunters subjects are most likely the people that will be setting the next trend. They are everyday people who are out and about. He see's the artistry in there dress. This is one of the most popular street style sites out there.

A bacon blog received with such love. Is a hard act to follow indeed. After a bable session with Tam , feeling guilty about the unhealthy aspects of bacon. I  thought why not share my cousin Tam's delicious alternative to the BLT.You'd be surprised how crispy and satisfying a (Dulse ) seaweed sandwich is.  The first time I tried it " I'm not eating no freaking seaweed" Before you wrinkle your nose take a look at living life living la dulse vita. Just think of the Street Cred you'll get at Whole Foods with its too cool for school workers. Even better the hit youll be in your work lunch room. Sizzle Bacon Beauty

 This week on twitter one of our favorite tweeps kittyfunpuppy ( Kitty Amsbry)  posted a pic of bacon balm. It made me laugh thinking " a mans dream come true".  The following day Fusion Effects tweeted about bacon latte. Of course I googled it ,what I found out. The world of bacon is burgeoning right into the mainstream bacon cupcakes , candy, wallets , popcorn, baby formula, seriously shocked. I settled on showing you  two sizzling bacon products. In the future of bacon we will see tanning lotion and bodyspray hit the markets by the end of this year.

Wow so maybe its best to leave the bacon balm at home tonight . I think we have our verdict from our very savvy group above .

This Bacon perfume put out by a small company called Fargginay . This company is legit and this is not a joke.

I asked my butcher what he thought of the perfume and lip balm. He wasn't amused by this at all . " Who the hell wears that crap " Is all he said shaking his head. The Real Beauty Movement

   



   When I was in Aesthetics school , I took a job at a makeup counter. I was very heavy at the time and was shocked I got the position to be honest.(before my 90lbs weight loss ) My first week on the floor after learning the ropes. I finally got a chance to take a breath and look around. Was I dreaming but each counter had a look in beauty advisor. As I made friends with the other girls in the area. I learned I was on the old lady /fat girl counter. I can't tell you who the companies are . I will tell you if you go to any high end department store's makeup dept. You can figure it out pretty quickly. I soon learned, as I went out too many salons seeking work. All the talent in the world wouldn't help me. If I didn't fit the look they required. I interviewed a high end Boston salon. Who was thrilled with my resume and skill set. When I went for the face to face the salon manager couldn't hide his disappointment. Asked me if I'd like a job in the basement of the salon answering phones. This made me doubt my talent as an artist, most importantly my value as a women.

So this brings us to the topic at hand, beauty discrimination. I think this problem is indeed a global one. The way you look can effect what you earn, relationships, etc. Makes one think has the world gone mad ?  This morning while on twitter one of our favorite tweeps is Kate from Eat The Damn Cake Posted a News Week article on Body Bias written by Dahlia Litwick here's a little excerpt of the article. "Meet Deborah Rhode, a Stanford law professor who proposes a legal regime in which discrimination on the basis of looks is as serious as discrimination based on gender or race. In a provocative new book, The Beauty Bias, Rhode lays out the case for an America in which appearance discrimination is no longer allowed. That means Hooters can’t fire its servers for being too heavy, as allegedly happened last month to a waitress in Michigan who says she received nothing but excellent reviews but weighed 132 pounds. And the top management at Abercrombie & Fitch couldn’t hold weekly meetings, as they allegedly did, at which photos of its sales associates were reviewed and purged for any sign of breakouts, weight gain, or unacceptable quantities of ethnicity." There is good news slowly but surely, the real beauty movement has started. One site which I think embodies this whole movement is Alexis Wolfers The Beauty Bean . This site is amazing in the positive well balanced message in which is sends out too all of its readers. Makeup Free Monday movement is amongst our favorites. I have posted an excerpt for you to read about the movement. I wanted to show you in this post where we are, most important where we are going in the future. Looks like there is some hope that real beauty will be embraced in the world. Just remember no matter what to always shine.

My Mix Tape Memories

 My best friend and I at our first art exhibit. The crazy cut outs you see around us. Are girls from the wrong side of the track. The background graffiti we misspelled on purpose. Pat Benetars video for " Love is a Battlefield" was the inspiration. Nothing deeper than that.







  So I sit here with a pounding headache. With way too many thoughts invading my Brain. Listening to music from the 90's . No sorry not Duran Duran , but a different phase of  my teens. I took a bit of a respite from the indie, alternative , metal genres for a bit. To dive into the world of bubble gum pop/ hip hop/pop rock . NKTOB, Jeremy Jordan, Shanice, TLC, Boys II Men, ABC ,BBD , Mary J Blidge, Mariah Carey, CC Pennison, Baby Face, Toni Braxton,  So when ciaos ensues on me and I need a pick me up. This is a  little taste of my playlist.  I hope it will make you smile too.







 
 

The Nomi Song

I just watched this film on Hulu. You know of a persons music , yet you know very little about. When the inception of the artistry came to be. Couldn't take my eyes off of this beautiful, sweet alien. I have to put this one up there with The New York Doll , story of Arthur Killer Kane. Once again I think, how do I miss these great movies?  Sometimes I like to think these things find you when its time. So maybe I needed a little Nomi .Worth a watch. Funny side note to this one. My cousins dog Tonka was prescribed Avocado with his yucca for joint and skin health. His coat is so shiny and skin not flaking . So I thought well Tonka and I got it right .

After a recent Q&A with all of you.  I need to focus on flow and content.   Its good news that we have been noticed by some pretty savvy folks. Being referred to as a" diamond in the ruff." They are impressed by the twitter feed . Think the blog should reflect more of what i do on twitter. I agree , Ive been noticing that this blog is shifting too more of a music orientated tone. So its up to you the Pop Trash Beauty Faithful . What do you think? Would you like more music and beauty. You want me to do more Video Blogs ?  Yes we have one video blog on here . My voice sounds nasal in it . I will post it below eek. I will be revamping the whole look of the blog. So when you stop by it may look a little funky. I'm learning about HTML code. Last night the background looked like graph paper. Due to the fact I missed some code. How : As a Child Tranter was inspired by the Disney Movie The Little Mermaid 's Ariel , Also the outrageous Courtney Love /Hole. He attended the Berkley School of music in Boston. After Graduating he set his sights on New York City. Where he went to the task of forming a band. His first band were the house band for a off Broadway show called Rock star NYC. Anna's Wisdom on being Thankful

This is a post from my Myspace Blog. I posted one earlier , it just didn't sit right with me. I think it is because I could read between the lines. I knew what was going on to provoke such a post. Very sad time for me . For some reason I've been obsessed with posting a blog post from my dear little blog. I thought this one would be perfect. Anna is one of my dearest friends.  Everyone should have a friend like her. She is kind but real, she laces hard life lessons with humor. She calls me out when I've been bad. Seriously I am human , she needed too. Reading this made me a little weepy.

 I was listening to Dr. Laura. She was talking to a caller that had asked how she can be more appreciative of her own life and not envy a friend of hers so much because the friend had a bigger house, a better car, you know the drill. Dr. Laura told her she had felt that way once, a very long time ago, and I laughed because Dr. Laura said that a long time ago she would give anything to be Annette Funicello (Mickey Mouse club, Beach Blanket Movies etc). She wanted that more than anything. Well, a short time ago Annette was diagnosed with MS and that really put things in perspective for Dr. Laura, she realized that if you want someone else's life or think someone else has it better than you..think again.
